“The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one.”
I understood what that means when I visited the Bangalore City Market today.
I left house at 9 in the morning and headed towards K.R. Market [the Bangalore City Market]. There are lots of direct buses to the place and it was not at all difficult in terms of travelling. I had to meet Joel there by 9.40 for a TOI project [yeah..whatever, chuck]. I reached there before him and was waiting, while lots of freaky things happened around me. One advice to you- if you are coming to Bangalore, don’t ever visit this place just for the ‘heck of it’. Unless you are haunting for some good deep Indian portraits [or if you want to buy 10 gerberas for just 2 bucks]. We walked towards the flower market and shot everything on the way. I realized that street photography is not my thing AT ALL. Out of 84 shots that I took, I think not even 2 of them came close to me liking it..
The inside of the city market is hell lot of spooky. But people [mostly traders] there are real friendly and will show you around. There were a group of kids who were so excited when they saw us with cameras. They made us shoot them with their mom, dad, aunts and uncles and everyone :-\ There was SO much activity inside the place that we were just lost. There were pots, vegetables, fruits, bags, spices, flowers, coconuts, seeds, etc. They sell all this in whole sale and this is the main place from where the other shop keepers from all over the city buy stuff from. So you-get-the-idea.
We wanted to go to the “rose market” from there but found out that it closes before 9 am. So we walked all the way on the fly over [it was exhausting] and took city shots from the high view. Ofcourse, I ended up with only lamp posts on the fly over [I find them really fascinating even now..]. We walked around 4 kms only on the fly over. What kind of a sane person does that?? But twas fun, I admit! We could see a lot of activity happening in the market from the fly over.
I’ve started to understand what some things in life mean. My father is right- “the more you travel, the more you learn”. And its not just about us. Its about the place we live in, the kind of people there are, the kind of lives they live, the activity that happens around the city, the conditions that you get exposed to… The “rush of life” that you experience when you visit such places is really something. You realize that its not just about the malls and the multiplexes. There is something more to it all.

Life has been eventful now a days. Finally.
Went for my 2nd #bangaloretweetup yesterday at Corner House. It was actually a #DBCtweet up. It was the first time I could actually finish one whole Death By Chocolate by myself! Met @hnp, @9_6 and @dkris. These guys are real nice and friendly. We roamed around the Brigade road area. Had long talks about everything on the way back home. This was much better than my 1st tweetup where people talked about ‘why engineering sucks’ and all =\
Other than the tweetups, I’ve been roaming around everywhere with my brother. It is so much fun, really. He has holidays too. He took me to his college and people started ’staring’ and he was like, “my sister!!”. Haha =P
Saw the movie “Hangover” with 2 of my friends. Its a real fun movie! I’m actually very glad that its over. I don’t miss it at all to be honest. I don’t want to get up at 6 every morning, wait at the bus stop, mug equations, be frowned at, suck up to the pathetic rules our school had and all that.
There is going to be a “Lal Bagh Photo Walk” this week end. I’m hoping it will be a success ‘coz Natesh and I are the ones who are organising it. I have no clue how to proceed, but I’m learning slowly. The whole point of this group was that the existing ones are designed for “almost professional” photographers with fancy DSLRs. We felt like we were left out. We still have so much to learn. So I’m hoping this will start off with positiveness for the amateurs.

I’d “once upon a time” made a resolution to write everyday. *smirks at self* =\
[ I'm not going to rant anymore. Not here atleast. Period. ]
Its raining as I write this. Its aweeeeeeesome! Its also thundering and lightning and all that. One thing good about this season. It sucks away all the life from you during afternoons and returns it back through rain in the night =) <3 it!
I’m romaing around the city now a days. Had been to Indiranagar for an entrance exam yesterday. Very nice place. I’d also been to food street with my dad 2 days back. After hearing a lot about the place, we finally decided to check it out. Pretty decent but kindda a turn off. I don’t know in what sense. Maybe its because we ought to have good appetite to enjoy such places. Or whatever.
I’m spending a lot of tme with my dad these days. Maybe its coz I’ve never really had a chance to be with him during my childhood. It always used to be mom, sis and me. Now that he’s back in Bangalore and sis is outside, I get to do all the things with him. I also went for a morning walk with him one day. Yes, only one day. I couldn’t survive even 20 minutes of it. I was flat dead by the end of it!

Bannerghatta National Park !!
BNP is 22 km south of Bangalore. It was about 2 hour ride from home. We decided to go there today, when dad was free and bro had come home ( yeah, the jerk cousin comes home during vacations and spams my PC, plays death metal all day long and distorts my guitar ). Hummph. More about him later. So well, we went on a wildlife safari in a ‘heavily’ protected van. We spotted lions, tigers, bears in the wild. The van driver was so cool and friendly, he took my camera and shot some amazing pictures!! After an hour, we came to the actual zoo. One advice – never buy bhutta in BNP!! It was freakin hard like a stone!! Ok, I’ll shut up now.
After the safari, we came back to the zoo. There, I embarrassed my Dad and Bro by calling many animals/birds “cute”. So there were Crocs, Hornbill ( which reminded me of my english text book =| ), Parakeets, all kinds of Snakes, Hippos, Porcupine, Eleee !!
And finally, my favourite snap of the day!! One elephant loved me so much ‘coz I was getting all excited lookin at it, so it came near me and shook its head, trunk n all ( like a way of greeting, duh! ). Then I got all high and scared many people away.
I’m planning to buy a stuffed toy tiger or something!! Cool na ?! Happy Diwali peee-pul!! Ta-daa !! ( I’m very very happy, I’m bunking school tom!! =D )

After a lot of cribbing and begging in front of our principal, we managed to convince her to take us for a one day trip ( we tried over night trek, 3 day trip and everything but she was very apprehensive to send the “big” kids *ahem* ). 24th October was one of the most memorable days for all of us. We’d been to Wonder La !! The first ride we tried out was Maveric !! I’d never imaged that we would turn 360 degrees in air !! The best dry rides were Maveric, Y-Scream and Insanity !! The rain disco sucked. Other water rides like vertical drop, pendulum were good. I realy don’t know what else to say…( not blogging for so long, I’m now become numb ). Check out some pics. I’ll upload more soon…Chao.

My first reaction was “Its freakin Hot n Humid here!”. I felt like I was inside a microwave!
Theres nothing much to talk about the place. I mean, its the same as Bangalore. But yeah, the traffic is soo much better!
( It took me 2 hours to reach home from Bangalore. That was half of the journey time ).
I also learnt a few Tamil words! Venakkam!
Vaango, Pongo, ille, Ukaarungo
I can now relate to some areas as well…like The Mount Road, Nungambaakam (Loong name?!), T Nagar, Puunammalli Road (!!)
Madras Filter Coffee ( or kaapi
) is also called as Metre coffe as they pour it from 3 feet high! You must really see them do it! Its awe-inspiring! It smells good too! Other than Coffee…theres always Idli, Vada and the really spicy chutney that can burn your tongue!
Can anyone tell me, why does the City Center Mall look like an ancient Roman building ?!
Just a thought.
Marina beach was filled with homosapiens and Canis lupus familiaris’
Mahabalipuram is the dream world of Tamil arts (world heritage site). The beach was really peaceful. We were at the beach at around 5.30 am in the morning to watch the sunrise. The Shore temple is really beautiful. We were lucky ‘coz it was early in the morning and not many people were around (actually, no one was around). So we got the whole place fo ourselves!!
Sunrise! Mahabalipuram.

Dad and Me =)

Getting self-obsessed at the beach !

Shore Temple…. Copy Rights Reserved !!

We drove back along the east coast. All the connecting roads to Bangalore are neat. The ride was amazing! Dad drove at 120 km/hr !!

It started to drizzle once we were near the Bangalore border. See, thats when you realise that you’re near Bangalore!! Its cloudy and freaking cold since then!
We were stuck in traffic for 2 hours. But that really doesn’t matter when its raining and you have Rohit Barker on the radio with you!
P.S. – Forgive me for having used so many smileys everywhere. I’m just excited, having missed school for 3 days!
