First day of college:
Half an hour early in the class.
New faces. Confused, Scary [this is PESIT for God's sake! =P] looks.
Got lost on the way to Chem lab.
Found the Nescafe Coffee Cart too crowded and intolerable.
Felt odd and displaced in the Open Air Theater.
Too diffident to enter the canteen filled with seniors!
Silence in ‘the group’.
Went back home right after the classes at 3 pm.

Last day of first sem:
I was 10 minutes late for the exam today. The invigilator gave me “the look” when I entered the silent exam room. Worse, I had to borrow a pen from someone and she went- “This is an examination hall!!” True story =|

Confusion about a lot of things still prevails. BUT, “this is PESIT, LOL man!!”

Shortcuts to reach Chem and EC lab sooner!!

Spend 5 minutes of every break drinking coffee at Nescafe. Getting addicted to coffee BIG TIME.

Best place in college = OAT. Period.

Have masala dosas at canteen at least thrice every week!

Today, we had a great time Bowling, Hogging, Talking & Spending 3 freaking hours in a BMTC bus [201 = Bangalore Darshan] trying to get back to college. Walked in the open city roads at night. Tried to convince a guy to quit smoking [really]. Played Truth. Sang senselessly. Debated on things like education, dating & Op-Amp Summers and Subtractors =|

Shocking Conversation Examples:
“Sorry”
“What is sorry?”
“A string of 5 characters”.
“No, its an array pointing to a string of 5 characters.

“How much did you score in T2?”
“I’m not telling.”
“Tell.”
“No.”
“Tell”
“No.”
“How many time should I ask for you to tell!!?!”
Put it in a loop!

Finally reached home around 9 pm.

Amidst A Mess

I just got up from sleep. Its 10:52 pm & I still need to START preparing for the comp quiz tomorrow. Theory AND lab. These quizzes are hell. They last for 15 minutes & get over even before we I realize that its begun. On top of this, we are being “tested” in the ‘tronics lab tomorrow. Each of us will be given an experiment and need to get the circuits right to proceed. Learning 14 freaking topics for 2 freaking marks.

To add to this mess, I’m currently on antibiotics AND pain killers for my wound [which by the way, hasn't healed much & according to the doc, the internal blood clot has started spreading (?)]. The blueness is turning into purpleness =P

& tomorrow happens to be the last official working day of college! Never realized amidst all the mess!! First semester just flew by!~

so yeah..

the “thing” with guys

We got our conference T-shirts at college today. We’re having a 3 day National Conference on Protein Folding Dynamics and Diseases. I’m looking forward to it. Will get to see many people from different places speak, do presentations, present papers, posters and stuff. So moving on, these shirts look sad_ All of us initially taught that it’d be cool to wear Biotech tees and stuff but now its like, “really”? Its got PESIT BIOTECH DEPT printed boldly in Goth font!!!

My friend mesgs me: “Hey so you Really wearing the tee tom? I dono what to do, I don’t want to be the Only fool wearing it. Lemme know by tom morn”.

The thing about guys. Well, I really don’t know what the “thing” is, but they were the first ones to wear it as soon as they got it [in class]. Hmmmm O_o

Edit: [Added this an hour after publishing 'coz it Really made me think. Ahem].

So thats what makes guys who they are. They don’t care about how it looks or what color/ font it is. They just “get along” with what they get. They don’t fuss. They don’t imagine things to be in a particular way and crib about how sad it is once it appears in front of them in reality. Thats why they can float along in any condition easily without bothering too much. Thats actually pretty cool.

  • Its Sunday noon & I’m listening to 15-20 minute odd songs by DT, browsing #interestingness on flickr, randomly tweeting, stumbling.
  • My 1st internals got over yesterday.
  • I like how all my pending works are done [well, most] & I can sit and do Nothing for the rest of the day.
  • Yesterday was one of the most fun filled days of my life in college. We went out to celebrate at Chung Wah and Came back to college and stayed there till evening.
  • I like how college is soo much more than school. Its not about “getting up in the morning, going to college, attending classes and coming back home”.
  • I got my camera back [which my Dads colleague had borrowed for 2 weeks] yesterday! What timing.
  • DT = Adrenaline Rush!!
  • My last.fm subscription has still not expired!! It was suppose to have expired months back! #imaybelucky
  • I’ve realized making random bullets on blog is much easier than having to talk about one single topic =P

titration & logic gates

[ Do NOT advertise on my Weblog! I am freaked out at the frequency of spam this space is attracting. And most of them are about making money, promoting their sites, etc etc. WTF. ]

We had an amazingly good chemistry lab today. Estimation of chloride ions in the given water sample. Took us less than 15 minutes to perform this titration as the silver nitrate standard solution was already given to us and we could directly start the analysis. Our lab hours is for 2 hours. We had 45 minutes + 30 minutes [of the lunch break] free time. Went out during that time, had pizza, spoke stuff and came back. Math was good too. I really pity the teacher who struggles to explain things to us and 70% of the class doesn’t even care. Mechanics is just too good. Nobody cares. Everybody minds their own work [messaging- though cell phones are banned, flirting- ahem, sleeping, talking, talking...].

I am really amazed at the fact that so many people on twitter are helping me with my assignments. Reema had clarified a few of my doubts 2 weeks back. Then Anvesh solved a problem that I’d put up on twitpic. Vivek gave me ideas about solving them. Ranjith explained to me almost everything that I needed to know about converting the logic gates to all NAND and NOR. Can’t be more thankful to these guys.

College is half good and half bad. I get to sleep till 7 am everyday and still be able to make it there by 8. I am not going to WALK till college even if it is 1.5 kms away. Buh.

Classes started from day 1 itself. Tests, Exams and Quizzes dates were announced right in the 1st hour. 2 units are already completed by the end of the 4th day. And no, it is not as bad as it sounds. We get a lot of free time and “let offs”. Some of the teachers are really interesting and fun. There are google groups created by teachers for their subjects where they put up interactive links that help in learning the subjects. First day was weird as all the teachers started to scare us about attendence requirements, GPAs and stuff. The fact that I “actually” opened my “Engineering Mechanics” book on day 2 itself should say something. There are people from Bombay, Jharkhand, Mangalore, UP, and other places. They must have fun at the hostels. I feel like I live in a hostel too. The girls hostel is 2 mins from home :-P

I really hope we get to do something apart from studying too. I can’t believe we have “Environment Study”, “Constitution of India” and “Economics” as compulsary subjects. Eww.

Been catching up on the basic concepts and other things. Got no time for anything here. Haven’t even touched my camera. Got this sudden urge to post something on flickr. Tried out some layer experiments on PS with this picture.  Sorry for typing everything in half sentences. I think I’ve lost the ebullience to blog :-\

10 days
Exact 10 days left for my college to start! And I’m all panicky now. I have no expectations what so ever. Ready to experience anything that life throws at me. After 2 years of hell, I now feel strong and confident.
College is 2 kms from home so its kind of an advantage and disadvantage for me. There are so many things to it. Can’t list them all. For one, I can get up every morning with a peaceful mind positive of making it to college on time! And this whole 4 years of college experience scares me a bit. For starters, this is going to be my first time at “college”. Not like a lot of my friends who were at the pre-university. Secondly, its a very reputed college, so will have to magane the pressure and stuff. That I have no problem with [+1, +2 has taught me enough].
So its the Independence Day tomorrow!! We have having a i-Day photo walk!! Some members of BPW will be celebrating the day with government school children somewhere on the out skirts of bangalore. The kids have a painting competition and all. We’re hoping to capture some portraits, indian-ness, past-present-future related theme photographs! Its all for having a good time, so looking forward to it!
I have so much more to write, but my wp link keeps breaking [as i've mentioned earlier] and i get frustrated at it. Hoping to keep this space updated in the coming years. I will not miss out on the fun engineering adventures on my priceless junk! =] Time to pull up my [invisible] socks!
